The ARTS IN THE CLASSROOM tradition…

A juggler in the gym… a mime in the cafeteria… the performing arts shared in the familiarity of each child's school… is what Arts in the Classroom is all about! For over 30 years, this unique program of the Springfield Arts Council has enhanced the cultural education of students in our public, private and parochial school, often serving as a first introduction to performing arts for many young people.

Arts in the Classroom expands and enhances the arts education curriculum in schools where budget constraints have reduced or eliminated performing arts programs. Research has shown the positive effects of the arts on classroom achievement and in the development of self-confidence, self-expression, and analytical abilities, making Arts in the Classroom programs a valuable resource for teachers and administrators.

For over 30 years, the Springfield Arts Council’s Arts in the Classroom program has provided professional performing artists to schools in the greater Springfield and Clark County area. Visiting artists present more than 100 school performances annually.

Arts in the Classroom
is proud to share these opportunities to make a positive impact on young people in our community through the arts.
