The Springfield Arts Council’s trio of ARTS IN EDUCATION programs align the performing arts with local schools, students, and teachers, creating environments for young people to experience and learn through the arts, assisting teachers with the integration of arts into the classroom curriculum, and providing a springboard for young people to participate in mentored performing arts opportunities.
ARTS IN THE CLASSROOM
Since 1975, The Springfield Arts Council’s Arts in the Classroom program has made professional performing artists and live performance experience available to Springfield and Clark County children in their own schools. The variety of culturally diverse theater, dance, and music programs provide a valuable enhancement to your curriculum, often exposing students to the performing arts for the first time, encouraging creative thinking, self-expression and classroom achievement.

YOUTH ARTS AMBASSADORS
The Springfield Arts Council’s Youth Arts Ambassadors program engages Springfield and Clark County middle and high school students with peers who share their interest and passion for the performing arts. Youth Arts Ambassadors attend performing arts workshops, interact with other teens in the community with similar interests, and participate in creating live theater as mentored performers and theater crew, enriching their understanding of the process of creating and appreciating the performing arts.
Springfield City School District, the Clark State Community College, Wittenberg University, Springfield Museum of Art, and the Springfield Arts Council, comprise Arts Alive! in partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts innovative “Partners in Education” Program. The Arts Alive! program focuses on providing professional development programs, aimed at assisting teachers in Springfield and Clark County with integrating the arts into classroom lesson plans and curriculum.
